创作背景
戴夫汤森于1974年中的一天创作了这首歌。当时，他的女友离开他单独去度假。于是他写下了这首“思念你的夜晚”，用歌声表述了他当时的心情。他录下了这首歌，并被收录在小岛唱片公司（Island Record）的一张专辑里。可是这张专辑被公司搁置了，最终包括这首歌在内的一些曲目被删除。这首歌的样本被转交到影子乐队（The Shadows）成员布鲁斯威尔屈（Bruce Welch）的手中。当时布鲁斯正好是克利夫理查的唱片制作者，于是克利夫理查便得到机会翻唱了这首歌。克利夫理查接过这首歌之后非常兴奋，立即将它录制成为了单曲光盘，于1975年11月4日发行，并且感叹这是他唱过的最好的情歌之一。
