电影剧情
身经百战，获得多枚奖章的海军陆战队汉默将军带领部下劫走了16枚新式VX毒气弹。随后他们控制了阿卡拉岛。这里原是一个监狱，现在成了旅游地。在岛的游客全部成了人质。汉默将军凭毒气弹和人质向国家要1亿美元，为受到不公正待遇的海军陆战队员阵亡士兵作赔偿金。
联邦调查局主任弗格森会同国防部召开会议，决定派突击队上岛。但是阿卡拉监狱防守监视十分严密，被称为“恶魔岛”，从来没有人越狱成功，因此突击队根本无从进入阿卡拉监狱。在国家绝密档案中，却有一个老英国特工梅森是成功逃出阿卡拉的，只有他才能完成这次任务。为了说服梅森带人潜入阿卡拉岛，弗格森对他做了虚假承诺，告诉他将得到赦免，重获自由。梅森与化学专家斯坦利会同执行这次突袭任务的突击队员成功地从地下遂道进入了阿卡拉监狱。但不料已被放置的感受器发现，突击队被发现并被包围。混战中，突击队员全部被杀，只有梅森和斯坦利侥幸逃生。斯坦利告诉了梅森事情的真相，并请求他协助去拆除毒气导弹，梅森终于答应了。
在拆除了12枚导弹后，汉默的部下将他们抓获。在监狱中梅森告诉斯坦利当年他的被捕是因为他掌握着一个美国政府绝密的胶卷，时至今日，它仍未失效。被捕后他成了英美两国都不承认的人。门，两人逃出监狱去拆除剩下的导弹。而汉默的部下已经发现政府在欺骗他们，然而由于受重伤的汉默将军根本不同意真正使用毒气弹去杀害无辜的人民，于是内部发生混战。汉默将最后一枚导弹的位置告诉了斯坦利，就死去了。经过激烈紧张的斗争，两人终于拆除了毒气弹，成功完成了任务。但阴险狠毒的弗格森却仍旧派轰炸机炸平了阿卡拉岛。
梅森和斯坦利因及时跳入海中而幸免于死，斯坦利正好借此机会向弗格森报告说梅森已死，却将他放走了。梅森临走前将胶卷的藏匿处告诉了斯坦利。

影片评价
虽然是16年前的老片,但是该剧剧情和尼古拉斯凯奇、肖恩康纳利的演技,仍旧令我无法从脑海中遗忘。说实在的,这个片子我看了应该不下二十遍了,可还是想再一次重温紧张、戏剧、火爆的场面。
尼古拉斯凯奇的一部非常优秀的作品,电影配音很好,虽然是90年代拍的,但是现在看还是感到深深的震撼!好片子!
好看是好看,可为什么美国政府没有在紧要关头把钱给那些军人呢?难道那么多人的性命还不值一亿?这是什么样的政府啊?
一次预谋的劫持,三个型男的巅峰对决。
让人心潮澎湃的经典,不要去苛求某些地方的不合理,这样的场面,这样的人物刻画,无与伦比的精彩！
