《小学英语语篇拓展教学百例》讲述了：小学英语是21世纪我国基础教育课程改革新开设的一门学科。自2001年以来，全国各地不同类型的学校逐步开设小学英语课程。为确保课程任务的实现，相关教育部门多途径开展教师的培养和培训。然而，在课程实施中教师匮乏的往往不是先进的教学理念和原则条例，而是符合课程理念并能将理念转化为课堂教学实践的课程资源和实战技术。教材是重要的课程资源。然而，现行小学英语教材主要以词汇和句型结构为基础，缺乏有情景意义的语言材料，致使教与学普遍缺乏语篇意识（text consciousness）。正是基于这一现状，我们参加了全国教育科学规划“十一五”教育部重点课题“课程资源促进有效教学的研究与实验”的子课题研究，并将课题确定为“基于语篇的课程资源开发与小学英语有效教学研究”。我们选择“基于‘语篇’的课程资源开发”作为促进英语有效教学的突破点，通过让教师掌握相应的课程资源获得改进教学的动力，从而改变教学行为，最终为学习者在真实语境中综合运用语言能力的发展奠定良好的基础。
