呈长方形，长与宽之比为３∶２。靠旗杆一侧为红色等腰三角形，其中有一颗黄色五角星、一本打开的书和交叉着的步枪和锄头。旗面右侧为绿、黑、黄三色的平行宽条，黑色宽条上下各有一白色细条。绿色象征农业和财富，黑色代表非洲大陆，黄色象征地下资源，白色象征人民斗争的正义性及所要建立的和平事业，红色象征争取民族解放的武装斗争和革命。黄色五角星代表国际主义精神，书本象征文化教育，AK-47步枪和锄头象征广大劳动者和武装部队的团结及其共同保卫、建设祖国。
