剧情简介
主人翁是青少年时期与父亲失和而无法完成梦想的农场主人雷，有一天他听到神秘声音说：“你盖好了，他就会来。”于是他像着了魔一样铲平了自己的玉米田建造了一座棒球场，没想到他的棒球偶像真的来到那里打球，而且还因此而使他跟父亲之间好多年心结得以开解。

拍摄期间，爱荷华州正经历着一场干旱。为了让演员能够躲进玉米地里，必须在地里灌溉更多的水，以便让玉米秆长高。结果，这些玉米长得太快了。有段场景是玉米刚好及他的肩膀高，实际上他是踩在一块加高的厚木板上的。
大量的草垛运来铺成了棒球场地，由于拍摄时间很紧，种植这些绿色植物时非常草率，结果全都死了。为了让这些草保持绿色，制片方只好给草上了油漆。

穿帮镜头
在明尼苏达州的Chisholm，雷和特伦斯阅读的新闻报纸上，很多标题上的小镇的名字都被报社错误地拼写成了"Chisolm"。
事实错误：道克格雷厄姆实际上是用左手打棒球的。
事实错误：电影中提到道克格雷厄姆生于明尼苏达州的Chisholm，但实际生活中的他出生于北部的卡罗莱纳州的Fayetteville。
事实错误：穆莱特格雷厄姆组建他自己的球队联合会，是在1905年而不是1922年。此外，他死于1965年，而不是1972年。
